She's Here!!

Mia Lucille arrived to this world on Saturday, November 29 weighing in at 7lbs and 5oz with a length of 19". She is doing well and is the joy of her family. Her big brother just loves her so much and such a big help. We are so happy that she is here safe without any major problems!

Pumpkin Patch

Today we went to the pumpkin patch with Grandma Sommers, Katie, and Jackson. It was so much fun!! We took a hayride out to pick out our pumpkins. Since we had a little girl on our ride who wanted a cute, little, baby pumpkin we rode over to another patch that had smaller pumpkins that were perfect for her. While the driver was out picking a pumpkin for her, he was nice enough to get a small pumpkin for each of the small children. After the hayride we went out to the courtyard to feed and admire the animals in the petting area. Talmadge still gets nervous around the animals so he had me feed them but he enjoyed watching them from a distance. After a ride on the animal train, Talmadge bolted for the slides. Of course he wanted to go down the biggest and steepest slide first. Since it was so big I decided to go down the slide with him. I got more nervous going down that slide then he did (screaming all the way down)!! Talmadge enjoyed jumping in the inflated pumpkin, climbing on huge tires, see-sawing with his best bud Jackson, and going down all the fun slides. I highly recommend Black Island Farm in Syracuse. They even have $2 off coupons online.

Boo at the Zoo

On Saturday we went to the zoo for their "Boo at the Zoo" day. Wow was I surprised how busy it was when we got there!! I have never seen the zoo that packed. Luckily we didn't just go to the zoo for the tick-or-treating or it would have been no fun since there were a quite a few long lines to get a piece of candy. We went to dress up and see the animals. Talmadge could care less for the treats. He just wanted to see all the animals. He is such an animal lover!! Talmadge had a blast since he was able to dress up. If you ask him what he is and he will tell you that he is a horse. His outfit started out as a cowboy since that is what he wanted to be but now he is a horse. It was a beautiful day and such a blast!!

Happy 29th!!

Happy Birthday Sweetheart!! The 17th was Cameron's birthday which I asked him to get off since I wanted to spend a day with him. He was lucky enough to have the entire day off which is rare especially for a Friday. I originally wanted to go spend the night at a nice hotel then spend the entire day celebrating but when I found out how expensive a "one-night-stand" would cost, I passed. Instead we spent the morning with Talmadge and I cooked Cameron bacon and eggs for breakfast; his favorite. Cameron's mom volunteered to watch Talmadge (thanks again Kris) while we spent the day looking a cars. We really wanted to get a new car before the snow started to fly this winter since Cameron's car really doesn't do well in the snow. Plus he has been having a lot of problems with the car lately and we figured it would cost more to fix it than it was worth. We were lucky and found the car Cameron really wanted to get, a Subaru Legacy GT. This car was just like his other Subaru but 2 years newer and a model better. Cameron really like Subaru for their all wheel drive and comfort. When we found the car I told him happy birthday but he quickly told me that it wasn't a birthday gift that the car is more for me since it will be safe to drive in the winter. I know that he will let me use the car when the weather is bad but its just fun to watch him get excited when he gets in the car. It is a fun car for him. Happy Birthday!!

She's Growing!

Here is the latest picture of Mia. She sure is growing. She now weighs 2lbs 4oz. The top picture is her profile picture and the bottom is a picture of her spine and her heartbeats (158 bpm). Her thigh bone was measuring long so the doctor said she looks like she is going to be a tall girl. She really doesn't have a chance to be short with a 6'3" dad and 5'9" mom. I just really hope she is not super tall. Growing up I never really liked being taller than my friends. Now, I like my height but I wouldn't want to be taller. Another exciting thing that is going on with the pregnancy is the fact that we are now down to double digits on our countdown. Yippee!! I've started making appointments for every 3 weeks instead of 4 weeks...I can't believe that we are so close! Mia sure seems to move a lot more than Talmadge did while in the womb. When I look back I was working while I was pregnant with Talmadge and sat down most of the day so he probably slept most of day. Now I'm chasing after an active toddler and feel lucky if I get a moment to sit and relax. We can't wait for her to come. Talmadge thinks he has a baby growing in his tummy too...maybe that is where we will get the boy baby. Before we knew we were having a girl I would ask Talmadge if he wanted a baby brother or sister and he told me he wanted both. He just cracks me!!

Olympics

I absolutely love the Summer Olympics and I would contribute most of that liking to my love of swimming. For those who don't know, I swam in high school and have loved swimming since I was a little girl. I had to post this video of the men's 4x100 relay gold win. I thought it was such a spectacular win. Everyone was favoring the French, even the commentaries and the Americans just came up and swooped the gold out of the French's hand and smashed the world as well as the olympic record. Awesome job, Jason Lezak!!

Baby Mia

On Tuesday I had my target ultrasound which looks over the baby and makes sure everything is growing well. Baby Mia looks healthy. Here is a really good profile and 4D picture of Baby Mia. I can really see some facial features that are similar to Talmadge's, like her nose!! It is going to be so much fun to have her here when she arrives. I can't wait. We are going to name her Mia Lucille Sommers. Mia comes from the Italian word "mine". Cameron has liked that name even before we met. When I heard it I loved it. Yippee, a name we both agree on!! Lucille comes from Cameron's Grandma Sommers. That is her first name and since Cameron has always been really close to her we only found it fitting to give Mia her name. Wednesday Cameron, Talmadge and I took the frontrunner down to Salt Lake. We were even lucky enough to have the company of Cameron's Grandma Sommers. It was so much fun. Talmadge loved riding in the big train! When we got to Salt Lake we went to the Joseph Smith Memorial Building to watch the movie about Joseph Smith. We all hadn't seen it before so we thought it would be fun. Mid way through the movie Talmadge started to cry really hard and was being a bit loud so Cameron took him out so he could play outside. I don't know if he was sad, bored or just tired but that was a first. The movie was really good and made me cry. I couldn't believe that I was getting emotional within the first couple of minutes of the movie. It must be the pregnancy! After the movie we went to the the Garden for lunch. I really like going to that place. The food is always good and the atmosphere is so beautiful since you can look out over Salt Lake. At the Garden we decided the day was still young so we should do something else. Since Cameron's grandma hasn't been to the Gateway since it was first opened we decided to go there. It was fun but really hot. Cameron took Talmadge to the fountain and they got a bit wet. We walked from one end of the mall to the other. When we got to the food court Grandma needed a drink so we stopped and we got ice cream while Grandma had a cool drink. Afterwards we were all pretty much tired so we headed home. Talmadge fell asleep on the way home on the train. He had a big day!

Dinosaur Park

On Tuesday we went to the Dinosaur Park with Shari's kids, Jackson, and Grandma Sommers. That was a lot of fun but the dinosaur growls were a bit scary for the younger boys. Even though it was a really hot day, the boys didn't seem to mind. They loved digging for dinosaur bones and trying to name all the dinosaurs that they saw. I think Talmadge just loved being with his cousins. As soon as Kris came and picked us up, Talmadge got in the car all excited and had to say hi individually to each of his cousins. It is so fun to watch him interact with them. He just makes me laugh!!

Orem

From July 23rd to the 26th, Cameron had to work at the Provo store so they paid for his hotel. We figured since the hotel was paid for, Talmadge and I could go along and have a mini vacation. It was fun even though Cameron had to work the whole time. We stayed in La Quinta Inn just off University Parkway. It was a nice room with a king size bed (this is always the plus since we sleep on a queen), microwave, fridge, and a nice sized dresser. We arrived in Orem late Wednesday night since Cameron had a class but the next day started our fun. In the morning they had a nice buffet style breakfast which was included with the room price...always a plus. Then off we headed to the pool until Cameron had to be to work at 1pm. Talmadge was a bit nervous to go in the water but then just swam like a fish as soon as he got use to the colder water. The pool wasn't cold but he likes nice warm baths and the pool was cooler then that. After dropping Cameron off for work, Talmadge and I headed to Lehi to check out Cabelas and to watch a movie at Thanksgiving Point. Talmadge always loves Cabelas and looking at all the animals. In fact he reminded me that he is a true boy because he even wanted to check out the guns!

We went to Thanksgiving Point to watch Kung Fu Panda since Talmadge loves animals I figured he would enjoy the show but when we got there we found out that they didn't have a later showing like it said they did on their web page so we opted to watch Wall-e. It was a cute show but not entertaining enough for Talmadge. Half way through he was done and wanted to leave. So I would recommend renting Wall-e instead of spending the money to watch it in a theater.

The next day we visited two museums on BYU's campus. The Bean Museum and the Life and Science Museum. Talmadge absolutely loved the Bean Museum since they had stuffed animals that were life size. As soon as we entered the building he started running all over the place naming all the animals. The Life and Science Museum didn't compared since they were in a really small building that only had about a dozen dinosaur skeletons. We were done with that museum in about 20 minutes.

On Saturday we met Cameron's cousin, Jordan and his family at Seven Peaks. That was a really fun day. Talmadge loved the kiddie pool. Probably because it was the warmest water they had out of all there pools. He even went down a big water slide with Cameron. I was going to go down but they advised that pregnant moms shouldn't go down so I just waited at the bottom. Talmadge had a blast. Since we went swimming so much I really wondered if out little "water baby" would survive normal life but he seems to be just fine.

First Farm Experience

Last Saturday, Cameron's cousin, Leann took Talmadge to their farm. He was in heaven and loved it. They had cows and horses plus 2 baby horses. Even though he never got too close to the animals he still enjoyed every second. We got to feed the animals as well but Talmadge just enjoyed everything from a distance. I forgot to take my camera but if we go back up we will post some pictures. That was such a fun evening! Thanks Leann!!

Aunt Shannon's visit

Cameron's sister, Shannon came to Utah from Washington to spend July 3rd to July 8th at "home". It was a lot of fun to have her home. On July 3rd we went to Lagoon but thought we were never going to make it. We hit some pretty bad traffic and when we tried to avoid it, we just ran into more traffic. We finally made it and had a blast. Talmadge amazes me how big he has gotten. He had such a blast riding the kiddie rides on his own (I would post pics but my camera's battery died). Shannon promised they would go on a dragon ride so she kept her promise and they went. The last time we went he was scared silly but this time he did great. I could tell he was a bit nervous but that didn't scare him from going on as many kiddie rides as possible. Since I couldn't go on any rides I just enjoyed Talmadge. Though I did ride the merry-go-round and train with him. We had a blast and I'm so glad that Shannon was able to go on some fun rides with her dad before the park closed.

The 4th of July was fun. We had a BBQ at Grandma and Grandpa Sommers' house. After dinner Talmadge and Jackson had fun popping snaps then walking over the unpopped snaps. When it got dark Cameron and his brother, Barry lit fireworks. Even though the show was meant for Talmadge and Jackson, they were too busy playing to bother watching. They watched for about 5 minutes then wanted to play. As more and more fireworks started going off Talmadge go a bit nervous and hid behind a chair. It was so cute to watch him try to get away from the fireworks. After we went through all our fireworks we walked over to the elementary school and watched the Morgan city fireworks. Talmadge was more excited to run around than to watch the fireworks. Maybe next year!

"Is it safe now?"

The 5th was Cameron's Grandma Sommers' annual family steak fry. This is where she goes out and buys a steak for everyone and we have a BBQ. Talmadge had a lot of fun playing with all the children. Cameron's dad had a cousin that was here from Virginia. They have a boy that is just a year older than Talmadge. They had so much fun playing together.

The 6th we had Sunday dinner together as a family (leftovers from the last couple of days). I swear leftovers usually take really good, especially pasta and potato salads. Probably because they marinate longer. Yum!!

The 7th was my last day working for Goldenwest Credit Union so I didn't get to spend much time with Shannon but she was running errors all day. When I went over to have dinner, her and Katie had a present for me. It was an adorable little outfit and a super warm, cuddly blanket for the baby. Thanks Katie and Shannon!!

July 8th, Shannon headed home. Before she left she came by to say good-bye, until September, when she'll be back in Utah for a wedding.

It was a lot of fun to spend time with Shannon. I almost forgot to mention that she brought guitar hero; dance, dance, revolution; and popstar. That was so much fun to play. In fact I told Cameron that I thought it would be fun to get the popstar game. The funnest part was watch everyone trying to sing and messing up. We had a blast playing!!

We can't wait until Shannon comes back down...2 more months!!

Doctor's Appointment

Well, here is the news that everyone, especially us, has been waiting for. It looks like we are having a GIRL! When I went to the doctor on July 1st she did an ultrasound and told me she couldn't see any boy parts so it is safe to say we are having a girl. We are so excited!! It will be fun to have a little girl join our family. On July 29th I go in for my targeted ultrasound and that is where they check everything out on the baby to make sure everything is growing health. At that time they will also check the baby's gender and will definitely let us know if our baby is a girl or not.

It's off...Yippee!

After 5 weeks Talmadge finally got his cast off. YIPEE!! I'm more excited to have the cast off than him. In fact when we went to the doctor he was already picking out his new cast color. When he got his orange cast off he started squirming and wanting to get away from the cast saw. This was completely different from when his green cast came off he was just fine and watch the entire event. I think the difference was because he was tired and hungry this time. For his reward he got 3 new cars from the movie "Cars"...Chick Hicks, Dale Earnhardt, Yellow Checker Flag Car. That made him so happy. Later that evening Cameron and Talmadge went out to fly airplanes and went swimming at Grandma Sommers' house.

Wasatch Back

On June 20 I was a volunteer for the Wasatch Back. I was going to run it this year with Cameron's Aunt Jonene but when I found out I was pregnant I had to drop out. Luckily I was still able to be a big part of the race by helping out Jonene's team, "The Gutsy Girls". I was did a lot of admin stuff for them and made sure things were in order before the race. For those of you who don't know what the Wasatch Back is I explain a bit. It is a 178 mile race that you run with 11 other runners. You each take a total of 3 legs with each leg ranging from 3-8 miles. The terrain ranges from flat city running to steep runs up to elevations as high as 9,000 feet above sea level. This race is ran non-stop for more than 24 hours so there is a chance that you could be running in the early morning hours. For those of you that are familiar with Utah, the race starts in Logan and ends in Park City. It was a blast to be a volunteer even though I got a bit sunburn (that just comes with the territory). Apology

I have to quickly apologize that I haven't been good at keeping up on my blog. Stuff has been going on and I have pictures to post. I just can't believe how busy I've been the last few weeks. Broken Arm

On May 17th Talmadge broke his arm while acting like a "tiger". He was crawling across the top of our loveseat and as he was climbing down to the arm he lost his balance and fell. At first we didn't know if he broke his arm or not since it wasn't obvious but he keep crying and his arm started to have red splotches. So just to be on the safe side, Cameron took him down to the Ogden Clinic. It did end up being broke. In fact he broke both his radius and ulna. One was broke completely across while the other was just slightly fractured. It was so small that I would have never noticed until the doctor pointed it out. Since Talmadge broke his arm on a Saturday they wanted him to go to an orthopedic surgeon to make sure there wasn't any possibly worse things going on with his arm. So for the weekend Talmadge had a temporary cast. We went to the surgeon on Monday and they didn't see anything out of the ordinary so they put a cast on him. While we were waiting, I asked Talmadge what color of cast he wanted since they had all the colors out on a board. He immediately said, "green". I wanted to make sure that was the color he wanted so I asked if he wanted blue or black. He told me, "no, green". So when the doctor's assistant came in to put the cast on he asked Talmadge what color he wanted. I prompted Talmadge to let him know what color cast he wanted and Talmadge said, "pink". Silly boy!! Cameron would have died and to tell you the truth, I would have been a bit embarrassed. So for now it looks like he will have it on for at least 4 weeks but no more than 6 as long as he heals well. Talmadge is doing really well with it. The first day you could tell it really hurt but now he moves around without any problems. You wouldn't know he had a broken arm if it weren't for the bright green cast. The same day that Talmadge broke his arm we found out that he had pink eye. We had to put drops in his eyes which he hated and probably made him feel more uncomfortable. Now he is also getting his 2 year molars so he has a runny nose and has been waking up every night in pain for the last week. This past week has been a bit hectic but now the broken arm is the least of our worries. He seems to be healing just fine. It is funny to listen to Talmadge tell other kids what happened to his arm because he points up his cast and tells them he broke his arm but the doctor made him feel better. It makes laugh because he is so serious and acts so grown up when he talks about it.

We wanted to leave at 5am but Cameron knew I was tired so he let me sleep in a bit and we got on the road at about 6:30am. This actually was just fine because we made great timing and made it to Shari's in time for dinner. Talmadge did an awesome job in the car. I sat next to him the entire time while we read books, played games, and watched "Brother Bear"...Talmadge's new favorite movie. The only time Talmadge got upset was when I fell asleep but then, I was told, he fell asleep right after. We stopped at a place called Horseshoe Bend, ID for lunch. There they had a fun little park to play at. Talmadge was more interested in playing than eating...of course but that is fine because he was able to stretch for a bit. His favorite toy was a horse on a big metal spring. He thought that was the greatest! When we got to Shari's house, she was just finishing up a hair cut so we got settled in while we waited. As soon as she was done we received the grand tour of the house since we hadn't seen the house before. They built a new house and we haven't had a chance to get up to WA before now. Their house was beautiful. Shari did a great job decorating. Cameron kept saying, "it would be nice to have a place like this". We would love to get out of an apartment, especially with a little one on the way but if not right now, someday.
